PerkinElmer Showcases Range of Solutions for Energy Conservation, Safety and Security, and Human Health at Electronica 2008

MUNICH, Germany -November 11, 2008 -electronica 2008, Hall A2, Stand 107 -PerkinElmer Optoelectronics, a global technology leader in digital imaging, specialty lighting and optical detection technologies, today announced that it will be featuring its range of solutions for energy conservation, safety and security, and health at electronica 2008 held at the New Munich Trade Fair Center in Munich, Germany from November 11-14. PerkinElmer will be demonstrating the benefits of its applications expertise towards improving the health and safety of people and their environment.

PerkinElmer's sensors enable many motion-controlled energy conservation applications including air conditioning, dawn to dusk lighting, proximity/security lighting, printer/copiers, microwave ovens, and automotive climate control. The Company's products are actively contributing to reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and energy savings on a global scale.

According to a recent independent report conducted by ERA Technology, the use of PerkinElmer sensors is helping to reduce CO2 emissions by 22 million metric tons per year. That is approximately the quantity of CO2 released by two medium-size coal- fired power stations in Europe. Use of PerkinElmer's sensors will be contributing to energy savings of over 35,000 GW-hours in 2008 alone.

Booth demonstrations will include climate control solutions, as well as a look at the home enabled with PerkinElmer energy conservation and security solutions, from pyroelectric detectors to LEDs (light emitting diodes). Visitors to the PerkinElmer booth will experience PerkinElmer's LEDs "in action," with the booth's mood lighting powered by the ACULED® platform.

In addition to its suite of energy conservation and safety and security solutions, PerkinElmer's display will also highlight how its technologies help improve personal health through preventative diagnostics, including digital x-ray imaging, molecular imaging, remote temperature sensing, and blood analysis solutions.

"In 2008, our presence at electronica is an opportunity to showcase our products in action, effectively demonstrating how our solutions help to conserve energy, contribute to a better environment, enhance personal comfort and well-being, and make people safer and more secure," said John Roush, president, PerkinElmer Optoelectronics. "It is particularly gratifying to be able to demonstrate how our core technology expertise in silicon and infrared detection, specialty lighting solutions such as our ecofriendly LEDs, and digital X-ray detection for medical and industrial imaging are creating better outcomes for our global customers and partners," Roush added.

PerkinElmer's electronica exhibition comes on the heels of the Company's global announcement of a significant strategic alignment of its businesses into two divisions, Human Health and Environmental Health. Scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2009, the alignment is designed to allow the company to better communicate and deliver value to its customers, employees, investors, and consumers.

PerkinElmer representatives will be available for comment on its safety and security, energy conservation, and personal health solutions in Hall A2, Stand 107, New Munich Trade Fair Center.
